Wow, what a beautiful luxurious stay i had in Florida – both in Fort Myers and Miami. Thanks to Lisa and the Jolly’s for letting us stay in their gorgeous home! I had a lot of fun out there –and learnt all sorts of healthy eating tips! (thank u Meg!!). I may be older but she was definitely the mama in this trip! As a good P&Ger, we should always list out our achievements. Here goes:
-Finally chill out and lounge around
- kill a cockroach. Once again, thanks Meg.
- goto the beach and do some baywatch running while catching some rays.
CONTINUED...
- spill cold ice water all over herself (i’ll let you figure out who would do something like that)
-run out of petrol on the way to Miami and have to walk in our beachwear on the highway to the nearest petrol station where the ranger wouldnt help us cos “he only drives north” despite the fact that he could see our car from the petrol station. Idiot. Luckily a young fella called Guillermo offered to take us back and help us out. Nice people do exist in Miami!
- get stared at like we were from a diff planet. After thinking about this, i think that’s only cos we’re the only ones in Miami who don’t have fake boobs so we were a bit of a rarity.
-sing some karoke. Lisa, remember – the next Karoke song will have to be “Don’t stop believing” by journey cos ur choice sucked. We did kinda redeem ourselves with Greece’s “ur the one that i want” despite the fact that u kept getting confused if u were the man or the woman. Big applause for Meg who karoked too – Gallelio by The indigo girls is soooooooo you!
- walk into Mangoes with her pyjamas on. [Again, you decide who ended up achieving thatJ]
-get ripped off by the rude parking attendant at the hotel and drive out through the entrance like we’d just kidnapped someone.
All in all, it was a blast and a great transition for my next adventure to come – thanks girls! Guatemala here i come!
Ive made luma's blog! hope to see you soon.

ReplyDeleteand when I find out what this means I will be able to check my balance!
Lums, I was reading your posts and really feeling how heart is sinking in when watching the scenes of these people's reality. So many of the illustrations are similar to the ones I had to face in Romania several times and felt overwhelmed from the feeling of helplessness when there was so much needed to be done and I could do so so little, that sometimes it didn't even matter.
ReplyDeleteBut remember, that the sole fact of your presence there is already a big difference in their lives and is making a positive change for these people, whether or not you could individually touch every one of them. Be graceful to yourself not to get to burnout.
Love you much!
